Woodstock doesn’t do 4th of July fireworks but saves them until the annual August Volunteer’s Day, held at Andy Lee Field. It’s an all-day appreciation of the town’s many volunteers, with a live music on stage–often with the town’s musical notables playing–food and community catch-up. There’s plenty of room to picnic and after dark you’re treated to fireworks. An added plus is that after the oohs and aahs, you can just walk into town, not sit in traffic like at so many other fireworks displays.
